HALIFAX 2

Halifax has the best doggie smells anywhere in North America - just ask Ben. We walked out to see the tall ships this morning and then grab some breakfast. Every lamppost, utility pole, street corner and fire hydrant was the scene of intense inspection by my four legged friend and it made for slow going. Ashley, displaying a naiveté that only somebody that has never owned a dog could, asked “Why don’t you walk in a straight line Ben”? Dogs don’t do straight lines and in a city with so many exciting smells it was completely out of the question!

The crowds for the tall ships rendezvous are enormous and move slowly along the waterfront boardwalk. The whole pace of life is very different from Ontario generally and Toronto in particular. Generally Halifax would be a much quieter place but this weekend with the draw of the tall ships there is a lot going on. I got a good feel for the generally slower pace of life in St John and Digby. In St John we headed for a dog park before we boarded the ferry in order to give Ben some off leash exercise. In my experience dog parks are normally a hive of activity and so I was surprised to see that we were the only vehicle in the parking lot. Never mind I thought there must be another lot on the other side and besides, people will have walked here. Not quite:
