Spontaneity, that was the name of the game, but even something spontaneous needs a little planning. So although I came up with the idea for this road trip at about lunchtime on Tuesday of last week there were things that needed to be done or undone and rearranged that required the start date be Monday 10th July. Not bad, still within the realms of spontaneity for somebody like me.
On Thursday this week I took Ben to see Scott, our vet, pick up his meds for the trip and get a health certificate in order to be bullet proof when we cross the border later in the trip. And that is where a spanner was thrown into the works. For the first time ever Ben presented with a heart murmur. While it is not the end of the world I do want to get the very best medication for him and that requires imaging of his heart by ultrasound and a review by a board certified doggie cardiologist. The ultrasound technician is on vacation until Monday so things are now delayed. At least the waiting room is more conducive to enjoyment than an airport or a railway waiting room.
Once more is known I will post an update. For now, here is a photo of Ben upon introduction to the van two weeks ago. As you can see he displays a very 'bloke-ish' disdain for the soccer-mum method of transport!
I'm so embarrassed...
