After the poolside shoot we packed the van and set off into Acadia National Park, home of Cadillac Mountain which at 1530' is the tallest spot along the eastern seaboard. We joined the procession of cars driving carefully to the top under a blue cloudless sky. Do you ever get tired of me say 'Ben loved it"? Well maybe it is just a measure of the little guy's zest for life, but he truly did. It probably didn't hurt that he had barely jumped out of the van before being adored by a couple of young brothers from MA.
The views were astounding. This may not amount to much more than a large hill but the vistas afforded of the coastline, lakes and hills is breathtaking. Plus the road to the top is nicely done and I have added it to the short list of places I wish to revisit and climb by bicycle. Not exactly Mt Ventoux of Tour de France fame [shout out to Brit Chris Froome for winning his fourth Le Tour] but a very do-able climb with great reward at the summit.
I clambered around the mountain top's well worn rock face giving Ben help here and there as his enthusiasm outstripped that bad hip. If you want to visit a national park that is perhaps somewhat different I can highly recommend Acadia. But I would probably try to avoid the height of the tourist season when schools are out.
