We have been on the road a little over over two weeks now and I am glad to be in Halifax where we are spending four nights in a waterfront hotel. A chance to get the van properly unpacked and cleaned and, hopefully, do some laundry which has not been attended to since our stay with John and Ginny at Lake Winnepausakee last weekend. It mounts up!
Ashley flew in yesterday to spend a few days with us and this morning we plan to take a walk along the waterfront and see the tall ships. There are reported to be 40 of them here as part of the Canada 150 celebrations. Should be quite the sight.
Last night the boardwalk was buzzing with activity and getting around was slow. Not from the number of people, it was just that Ben was virtually the only dog around and he seems to attract attention, lots of it. He revels in that of course and it is lovely to see him 'smiling' so much these days. Each morning he will get highly excited when he wakes and come and prod me awake and encourage me to get out of bed. I love that, it is part of a game ritual we have developed over the years. Often [these days, usually] I am awake before Ben and will be doing things on my iPad. Once he sees that it is war. He will run around the bedroom demonstrating how much he is enjoying the day and that he is SO ready for his breakfast. I pretend not to notice and he then rushes up and tries to shove the iPad out of my hands with his nose! This will got on for some minutes with his shoving getting ever more insistent until I can bear it no more or he succeeds in his efforts. As I say, a game for us both and one that I shall sorely miss one day.
So I have a little competition for our readers. You know where we have been, how far do you think we have travelled to this point. Yesterday it rolled around to a nice round number as we pulled into the hotel. A $100 donation to the charity of your choice for the answer nearest my current total.
Mussels last night!!!
