PSSSST

It has been idyllic weather in Halifax the entire weekend. I claimed it slightly too hot, Ashley slightly too cold so we both got by. Ben just took it in stride although there were times we sought put the shade of a big tree or two. It has been lovely to watch the activity and eat at the waterside under a cloudless sky the entire weekend.

The Tall Ships rendezvous celebrations have continued unabated the whole time and tomorrow at noon there will be a huge sail past as they leave harbour on their next leg of the odyssey. I have made best friends with Alexa the concierge at this hotel and she has offered us VIP seating to watch - unfortunately it is just at the time Ashley has to head for the airport for her flight back to YYZ. But I have made up for it. Tomorrow morning Ben and Ash are both to take their first helicopter flight in order we can see the armada congregating in the bay - after a tour of the city and a flight down to Peggys’ Cove. Anyone that knows me at all well understands that I just adore flying in helicopters and will do it at the slightest excuse. Well I think this is a very good excuse indeed - Mr Ben so enjoyed his light plane excursion he just has to do this! And not just any old R22 or R44, no this is a full fledged Bell Jet Ranger, my favourite.

Talking choppers, I had breakfast at the BnB in Digby with a helicopter entrepreneur and pilot and leaned from him that 20.20 vision is no longer a requirement for a rotary licence. That has kept me from taking lessons for roughly 25 or 30 years now - but maybe no longer!!

Today we were to take a drive down to Chester but that was put on ice when upon getting to the van in the hotel’s underground garage I found one tyre completely flat. Tow trucks cannot fit down there and the skinny spare is located right underneath the middle of the vehicle. Wound down from within the cabin by a sort of Heath Robinson device that tests knuckles and patience. Luckily not mine!! No the wonderful Alexa coopted Adam from engineering and we all went down to change the thing. Alexa took firm control of the situation as she had done this before and knew exactly where everything was located and how it works!! In the end I became so supernumerary I just left the two of them to it!!

Sorry for the lack of photos. Here in Halifax I took most shots with my good Sony camera and it turns out the files are way to big to put own the site. Trying to find a way to downsize them and will then post a whole bunch.
